Electrical Wiring Technology

Electrical Wiring Technology

Instruction in this program emphasizes the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring and testing equipment for lighting, heating, cooling, and other power requirements in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. Students learn to wire electric machinery and equipment and motor control systems; install conduit, circuit breakers, and other electrical components; and use the measuring and testing instruments common to the electrical industry.

Job opportunities in this field are excellent. Graduates can expect to enter the work force as apprentice electricians or go on to further their education in electrical engineering or related fields. Other entry level positions include alarm, telephone, or cable TV installation. Shop and related hours are approved by the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examinations.
